Walked in randomly to get a wok and the owners were incredibly helpful, personable, and knew exactly how to guide me in my purchase. Wonderful business, definitely check them out if you're in the area.

I visited this shop after reading glowing reviews from a few well-known Chinese cooking bloggers—one of whom I know personally. Based on their praise, I was genuinely excited to have a reason to stop by. I came on a quiet weekday afternoon looking for a specific kitchen tool. As I approached, the man sitting outside shifted slightly to let me in, but didn’t say a word. Inside, the woman at the counter made eye contact but didn’t acknowledge me either. The store is packed with merchandise, and after that frosty reception, I tried to find the item myself. When after a few minutes I couldn’t, I showed her a photo on my phone. She pointed toward a crowded wall of utensils without saying much, and without warmth. After a minute or two of me searching, she suddenly called out, “You can’t find it?” in a brusque, impatient tone that felt more like a reprimand than an offer to help. I felt awkward and put on the spot. She eventually came over and pointed at the item, still unsmiling. So many reviews describe the owners as warm and helpful, but my experience was the opposite. It’s hard not to wonder what accounts for the difference. I’m glad they had what I needed, and the price was fair, but I left feeling unwelcome. I won’t be returning.

We had a great experience at K.K discount store! We came in looking for woks knowing very little, but the owner was kind enough to spend a lot of time helping us choose woks and learn about tools without pressuring us into buying anything. We ended up leaving with our woks, lids, and some jasmine tea, and we’ll be sure to come again soon for some more tools in the future! Thank you for your patience and help (:

Amazing family run business (came highly recommended from the Wok of Life, a very popular Chinese cooking blog). The owner was very knowledgeable about woks and cooking tools for Chinese cooking. I appreciated that he shared a lot of tips with us and considerations when buying a wok. When we would ask questions about if it was necessary to buy any other accessories for cooking with a wok, he mentioned it would be best to wait and see if I ever find a need for it rather than just stocking up on a bunch of accessories. Very honest business. Will come by again.

I came to K.K. after accidentally buying a non-stick wok (why those are even made I will never truly understand) and wanted to get an uncoated carbon steel wok. I was greeted by friendly faces and asked for help finding a wok. Ken immediately took me over and showed me what they had in stock, as well as gave me an informative overview of the care needed and helpful tips. I ended up getting a few more kitchen supplies at very reasonable prices! I was tempted to buy more but I was already carrying a heavy bag so i’ll definitely have to come back. Supporting small businesses like K.K. are so important nowadays more than ever and I’d much rather give my money here than huge online retailers. I’m very thankful I live nearby to such a wonderful store ☺️ Thank you!
