Dallas college has awesome programs but some of the courses are very rigorous, these courses are the most difficult I’ve ever taken. I’ve spoken to other students who feel the same way. For reference, I’ve enrolled in University and another community college. For example, my 8 week dance appreciation class is more difficult than my 16 week English composition class I took at a University. I’m required to basically submit 9 essays for an 8 week course, a dance appreciation course at that, it’s supposed to be an elective. Another example, I’ve had professors give out a specific study guide and tell us what to study but the test was completely different. I have experienced that with multiple professors. Another discrepancy, it takes a very long time to get financial aid refunds back. I’ve never had to wait this long at any other institution for my refund to be dispersed. Also the courses are priced higher than surrounding community colleges. I have to take my courses with Dallas College because of the specific program I would like to be in. The school does have great opportunities but there is room for improvement for the students to better succeed. This college is supposed to inspire students to keep on going but it has been the complete opposite experience for me and others I’ve talked to. I’ve had one awesome professor and I’ve experienced many awful professor, unfortunately. I believe some classes are made to be more rigorous so students will have to continue to retake courses and the school be paid more. I wish there could be a change with some of the professors so students can better succeed.
