I would not recommend this company under absolutely 0 circumstances. Getting claims from them is a nightmare and they owe me money for a renewal and it had taken over 3 months to get it back. I had a flood last winter. Their ONE employee responsible for renters insurance was on vacation for 2 weeks. This is not his fault, but you would think they would have another employee to cover for him. NOPE. I had a completely flooded apartment (not due to my fault). NOBODY answered my calls, emails, anything. This was my first time ever filing a claim so I had no idea what to do. Could I throw out my mold infested couch? How detailed do my pictures have to be? Do you need videos? What can I throw away? How does the reimbursement work? Simple questions that I couldn’t get answers to. Imagine living in a flooded apartment for 2 weeks because the insurance company doesn’t have anyone in the office. I called this guys boss AT LEAST 15 times. Not a single answer. Voicemail every time. If you call a different department they just give you the number of the people who don’t answer. Eventually I heard back weeks later. Fast forward to august, and obviously I am not renewing my policy. My policy expired in September, but I wanted to cancel auto renewal a month early so I didn’t forget. A lady told me I couldn’t cancel until a month before. So I waited until a month before (still in august). BUT THEN THEY CHARGED ME AN AUTOMATIC RENEWAL FEE. The lady I was talking to magically didn’t respond to my next 5-6 messages over the next few weeks. The worst part is it wasn’t even the correct amount, it was about double what I should’ve been charged for a renewal. I finally got in touch with someone else. They told me I had to wait until 2-3 weeks after my policy was set to renew to receive a refund. (Now October). Surprise surprise, no refund. I got in touch with someone else. They said ok we will refund you, said something about an American Express card, to which I said no because I do not have an American Express card, and then said oh you need to contact someone else. Then this new person says oh you need to send an email to this person, you can’t call them though. So this 4th person finally emails me, and says I will get a refund in 3-5 business days. 2 WEEKS LATER I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND. This company is an absolute joke.
