I've been an Allstate customer with Brandon Walter's agency for over a decade for my home and car insurance. My experience has been disappointing, particularly regarding my home insurance premiums and a situation with my car insurance. In 2019, I filed a claim for roof work, which was approved by Allstate after several rejections earlier. The roof was replaced using funds provided by Allstate. However, I recently discovered that their system did not reflect this update, leading to significantly higher premiums over the years. When I inquired about my unusually high premium (over $8000), their agent Perla informed me that their system still showed my roof as original to the house. This was despite the fact that the work had been completed and, according to my contractor, a certificate of completion had been submitted to Allstate. I was told that I should have submitted the completion certificate myself, even though I was never informed of this requirement. The agency claimed that five years ago, their systems were not in sync with corporate Allstate, but are now. However, this miscommunication resulted in years of overpayment on my part. Even after providing the completion certificate, there was no offer to adjust past premiums or provide a refund for the years I likely overpaid due to this issue. This lack of proactive customer service and unwillingness to rectify their error is disappointing, especially given my decade-long loyalty as a customer. Additionally, after my Tesla Model 3 was totaled in November 2023, I continued to be charged premiums for a full year. When I brought this to their attention, they did agree to refund these charges. However, I believe this error should have been caught and corrected earlier, especially since Allstate processed the claim for the totaled vehicle. These experiences have led me to switch to another insurance provider, where I've found significantly lower rates for comparable coverage. I would strongly advise potential customers to carefully review their policies, premium charges, and ensure all updates to their property and vehicle status are properly recorded in Allstate's system to avoid similar issues.
